This food court-style eatery, located in Phnom Penh’s sleek new office block, Exchange Square, aims to offer an affordable, quality Khmer food experience in a modern setting. The initiative comes from Hagar Catering, which started 10 years ago with a just a few dynamic people, but today employs 400 permanent staff serving over 20,000 meals per day. A wide variety of traditional Cambodian cuisine is on offer all under the one roof. The Khmer set is their most popular menu choice, comprised of a soup, one main and a dessert for just $2.50. The weekly special, meanwhile, may be Hainanese chicken or roast duck, and includes a soft drink for only $4.50. A current promotion lets you buy three drinks for the price of two from 2pm to 8pm daily. Nham Central can seat at least 100 people and, as befits this vast dining space, features a huge wall mural painted by prominent local street artists Lisa Mam and Peap Tarr.
