Daughters of Cambodia helps sex workers leave sex work and start a new life. We offer girls and transgenders in red light areas the chance to leave the industry voluntarily without institutional living or imposed Westernization supported by unsustainable handouts.
We provide them with alternative jobs in one of our businesses. We operate a retail and F&B outlet, our Visitor Centre, on the riverside; here visitors can browse our unique handmade designs, enjoy tasty treats in our café, and relax in our spa. We also operate production businesses, with a sewing and screen printing factory, where we produce the beautiful fashion & home accessories on sale in our Visitor Centre.
We have empowered 750 girls to leave sex work since we started in 2007. Our businesses give them an income, training, and a diverse and rewarding career path. Girls and transgenders are able to advance in their chosen career and are promoted to positions such as: business managers, designers, quality control managers, stock managers, counsellors, and chefs.
In the working day, several supplementary services are included, which focus on building internal capacity. These include medical treatment, counselling services, educational programs and childcare.
At Daughters we aim for sustainable outcomes, in which our producers live independently in their own community and achieve quality of life. We empower rather than institutionalize.
